My blogging friend over at
Rose City Reader is again sponsoring the
Battle of the Prizes - British version. This is comparing
Booker Prize winners with James Tait Black winners. The idea is to read one from each list along with one from the list of double dippers. If you don't want to read a double dipper you can read two from each list which is my choice. I didn't finish this last year, so I'll try again.
Here's my list:
Booker Prize:
The Sea, The Sea
by
Iris Murdoch
Hotel Du Lac
by
Anita Brookner
James Tait Black Memorial Prize:
The Corrections
by
Jonathan Franzen
A Passage to India by
E.M. Forster
Now then - no more reading challenges. Really. I'm all full up.
Happy reading, everyone!
Thank you for signing up! You are the first.
ReplyDeleteGood choices, all. The Sea, the Sea was my favorite book of 2010. I liked Hotel Du Lac so much I read it twice, which I seldom do. The Forster is terrific.
I have mixed feelings about The Corrections when I think back on it, but I quite enjoyed it while I was reading it. I'll be interested to read your review.
@Rose City Reader - You egged me on. Plus your American Battle of the Prizes was the first reading challenge I ever did. The Sea, The Sea is my favorite Iris Murdoch and I haven't revisited it in quite awhile. It's important to revisit old friends, eh?
ReplyDeleteThe Sea, the Sea is definitely worth revisiting!
ReplyDeleteOK, the list of Participants is posted now.
Thanks for signing up!
When you review a book, please leave a comment on the main challenge post with a link and I will list your review.
