April Reading Round-Up

Didn't I just type that I was surprised that April was already here?  We had a fair amount of rain in April - good because California has been in a drought and there's been concern about whether we'd have enough drinking water.  It's starting to warm up, but still not too hot.  My fuschia did bloom for the first time.  Roses in the neighborhood where I live are in full and gorgeous bloom.  April was a good month for reading - I got a fair amount through my pile of ARC's so I'm feeling virtuous, too!  Here's what I read in April:

  1. The Wandering Fire (The Fionavar Tapestry, Book 2) by Guy Gavriel Kay (review)
  2. The Darkest Road (The Fionavar Tapestry, Book 3) by Guy Gavriel Kay (review)
  3. The Mystery of Lewis Carroll by Jenny Woolf (review)
  4. City of Night (House Wars, Book 2) by Michelle West (review)
  5. American Gods by Neil Gaiman (review)
  6. The Wood Wife by Terri Windling (review)
  7. White Cat (Curse Workers #1) by Holly Black (review)
  8. The Last Party by Anthony Haden-Guest (review)
  9. Hellraisers by Robert Sellers (review)
  10. The Girls from Ames by Jeffrey Zaslow (review)
  11. Invisible Boy by Cornelia Read (review)
  12. Birthright by A. Roger Ekirch (review)
  13. Still Missing by Chevy Stevens (review)
  14. Dreaming the Eagle by Manda Scott (review)
  15. Hardball by Sara Paretsky (review)
  16. Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt (review)
  17. Imperfect Birds by Anne Lamott (review)
  18. Dead End Gene Pool by Wendy Burden (review)
  19. She's So Dead to Us by Kieran Scott (review)
Once again I read some great stuff and some stuff I hated.  Notable on the stuff I hated list was Imperfect Birds by Anne Lamott which was smug and histrionic.  I re-read American Gods and it was lovely and got the second book in Michelle West's House Wars series and it was also lovely.  I read some things I wouldn't have read if I hadn't gotten them as ARC's and that was great - it's good to expand your horizons.  Happy reading, everyone!
