Typically British Reading Challenge - Wrap-Up Post

I managed to complete my first reading challenge - the Typically British Reading Challenge hosted by Book Chick City.  I took the "Cream Crackered" level and read eight novels by British authors.  I tend to read a lot of British writers and I've been reading Man Booker Prize winners so I'm not surprised I finished this one fairly quickly.  Here's a list of the books I read for the challenge with links to my reviews:

  1. The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt
  2. The Garden of the Gods by Gerald Durrell
  3. In the Dark by Mark Billingham
  4. The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters
  5. The Glass Room by Simon Mawer
  6. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
  7. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
  8. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby
All told this was a great group of books with only one clunker (The Glass Room, which I loathed).  Of the rest it's difficult to pick a best of the bunch because they were all worth reading and great in their own ways, but if pressed I'd have to rave again about Wolf Hall which I enjoyed enormously and is one of the best books I've read in ages.

Thanks to Book Chick City for sponsoring a great challenge (and an enormously cute button)!  I hope to participate again next year!

  1. Congrats on completing the challenge!!!

I must say you did it pretty quick, and you chose the most difficult level... maybe I should make it more difficult next year? LOL

Glad you enjoyed it and read some fab books (apart from The Glass Room). Thanks for participating.

    See you next year! :)

  3. Congratulations on finishing the challenge!

I also signed up to read 8, but I think I've already read and even reviewed more than that. But I forgot to add my reviews to my list.

    Thanks for the reminder!
