Monthly Reading Roundup Post

I can't believe that March is already over and we're headed for April.  It's raining here in San Leandro this evening and that's okay because we really need the rain.  My geraniums are blooming, my fuchsia is threatening to bloom, and the fruitless cherry tree outside the front door is really gorgeous and full of pink blossoms.  This is the only time of year that I miss living in the South.  I really miss the redbuds and the dogwoods and it just never feels as much like spring as I'd like.  I also miss living in Seattle this time of year.  There's nothing like the cherry trees on the University of Washington campus in full bloom on a gray Seattle day.  In any event, on to the list of things read and reviewed in March:
  1. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (review)
  2. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby (review)
  3. The Perfect Summer:  England 1911, Just Before the Storm by Juliet Nicolson (review)
  4. Raven Stole the Moon by Garth Stein (review)
  5. Fireworks Over Toccoa by Jeffrey Stepakoff (review)
  6. Keeping the Feast by Paula Butturini (review)
  7. Heresy by S.J. Parris (review)
  8. Critical Care by Theresa Brown (review)
  9. Evidence by Jonathan Kellerman (review)
  10. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith (review)
  11. Hell's Gate by Stephen Frey (review)
  12. The Grass Harp by Truman Capote (review)
  13. Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote (review)
  14. In Pharaoh's Army by Tobias Wolff (review)
  15. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (review)
  16. The Summer Tree (The Fionavar Tapestry, Book 1) by Guy Gavriel Kay (review)
16 books read and reviewed in March for a total of 43 for year so far.

March was an it was the best of times/it was the worst of times kind of month.  The best of times in the two Truman Capote books and the Guy Gavriel Kay and revisiting an old friend in Good Omens.  The competition for the worst of times was fierce with Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter duking it out with Fireworks Over Toccoa for most dreadful.  I also thoroughly enjoyed Raven Stole the Moon and have Garth Stein's bestseller, The Art of Racing in the Rain, on my ever-growing TBR pile.

I've read some great stuff this week - looking forward to telling you all about it in next week's stack of reviews.  Onward and forward into April we go!

  4. Haha! I wasn't a huge fan of Fireworks Over Toccoa either. I definitely rolled my eyes more than once.

I've got an award for you at The Crowded Leaf.
